Guest andeee Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Can anyone tell me why my lower glove box light wont work. I've tried all the obvious things: bulb, fuse etc but to no avail. There is no current to the bulb holder so could it be the switch? if so where is it? Any info much appreciated  . Quote
johnb80 Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Does it by any chance only work when the lights are on.? Regards - JB Quote
Andrew T Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Or does it have a hidden mercury switch ? trying opening and shutting the glove box repeatedly, it might shake it into life if it has one. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Interior lights usually work by the switch providing the link to earth - the live is permanenty fed to the lamp. If there is no power at the lamp then there are 3 mian reasons to consider: a fuse has blown, the wire is broken somewhere or it only works when the exterior lights are on ! Quote
Guest andeee Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 thanks for the comments, it is only supposed to work when the lights are switched on but still wont, so I shall have to try and find the switch. Quote
Guest andeee Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Found the switch :D. It is situated in the middle of the lower edge of the glovebox and is pushed in(turned off) when the lid is closed. It must of been sticking but works OK now even with the exterior lights turned off :D. Quote
